Foundations can be coated with many differnt types of products. The main ones the we offer are broken down into two categories. (Damp Proofing and Waterproofing)
What is Foundation Damp Proofing?
Damp Proofing is an Asphalt coating that acts as a vapor retarder. It slows the passage of water through the wall. Damp Proofing has almost no streatching ability and cracks with the foundation. It is used mainly in areas with dry building conditions. There is a high number of callbacks for leaks associated with the use of Damp Proofing.
What is Foundation Waterproofing?
Waterproofing is typically an Asphalt Based Emulsion that is blended with a Rubberized Polymer. Waterproofing is a minimum of 40 mils thick, but can range up to 80+ mils thick. Because of the added rubber it is able to streatch over cracks that form in the foundation. The number of call backs for Waterproofing is drastically less than Damp Proofing.
