This is Rob Brough, Zions Bank, speaking on business.
Do you or someone you love own a house with a basement? What kind of things do you keep in your basement? Ever wonder what would happen if water got in? What might be damaged? How much would it cost to fix the problem and replace damaged items?
McKay Douglas would like to make sure you never have to worry about the answers to these questions. McKay's West Jordan-based business, Rocky Mountain Waterproofing, has been helping clients facing these questions for years.
Building codes require that, at minimum, a damp proofing is applied to the exterior of basement walls. Damp proofing refers to an asphalt coating on walls that stops dampness from seeping through concrete. About 80 percent of the homes along the Wasatch Front have this basic damp proofing. The only problem is that damp proofing isn't designed to stop leaks. It breaks with the concrete wherever cracks form.
The solution to this is flexibility. Every concrete foundation cracks so homeowners need a rubberized membrane that can bridge the cracks. Rocky Mountain Waterproofing has taken the focus on flexibility to a higher level by offering a wide range of options to help get the most protection possible and still fit within the budget. This includes leak repair options from the inside or outside of your home.
Whether homeowners are looking to buy or sell a home, finish a basement or just protect their home from water damage, they will find a lot of options and ideas are available at Rocky Mountain Waterproofing. More information can be found on the company's Web site, www.dryhouse.com.
McKay says all seven of his children are currently involved with the business and share the vision of keeping clients' basements safe and dry long into the future.
